Role Description
The Software Engineering Manager will lead an engineering team responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining software systems and services. This full-time, remote role involves overseeing day-to-day engineering activities, including sprint planning, code reviews, technical guidance, and mentoring team members. The person in this role will collaborate with product, design, and other stakeholders to define requirements, prioritize work, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality solutions.
Responsibilities include setting technical direction, driving best practices for software design and distributed systems, managing project timelines and dependencies, and promoting an inclusive, high-performance team culture. The Software Engineering Manager will also be accountable for identifying process improvements, managing risks, and supporting the professional development of each engineer on the team.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Software Development, including experience with modern programming languages, frameworks, and tools.
- Strong Team Leadership and Project Management skills, with experience guiding engineering teams, coordinating cross-functional work, and delivering projects on schedule.
- Hands-on expertise in Software Design, including architecture, code quality, scalability, and reliability best practices.
- Experience working with Distributed Systems, including design, implementation, monitoring, and troubleshooting of large-scale or cloud-based services.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop engineers, foster an inclusive team environment, and provide constructive feedback.
- Solid understanding of agile methodologies, software development lifecycle, and DevOps practices such as CI/CD and automated testing.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in a managerial or technical lead role within a software engineering organization is strongly preferred.
